Tim Allen Reveals He Got Emotional Reprising His ‘Home Improvement’ Job On ‘Last Man Standing’ (Exclusive)

Tim Allen‘s return to a past character was not what he anticipated. ET’s Lauren Zima spoke with Allen and his “Last Male Standing” co-star, Nancy Travis, ahead of the ninth and remaining period premiere of their Fox sitcom.

For the duration of the chat, Allen opened up about taking part in the two his recent role and a earlier purpose — Tim Taylor of “Home Improvement” — on an approaching episode of “Last Person Standing”, an experience the 67-12 months-aged actor termed “weird, creepy… [and] abnormal.”

Allen might have found the expertise hard, but Travis saw it as just an additional day on set.

“It was appealing and strange,” she stated of seeing Allen enjoy two roles. “Honestly, it was Tim’s problem. I just stood by and mocked him, so it was, frankly, incredibly simple for me.”

Allen wouldn’t spill techniques about the plot bordering Tim Taylor’s look, but he did tease that his “Home Improvement” and “Last Guy Standing” people don’t just see eye to eye.

“Taylor dropped his Television set show. Tool Time is above. He had a neighbour that passed away. He’s now functioning on the company aspect of Binford Instruments. That’s what he does,” Allen explained. “Baxter’s helping Tim Taylor cope with change… They’re not wonderful to every single other. They are sort of antagonistic.”

Though emotional and tough, Allen praised the episode as remaining “a excellent idea” that introduced Tim Taylor “into this century, into this year.”

“It’s seriously intelligent what they did with it,” he mentioned of the show’s writers.

Whilst Allen was tight-lipped about the particulars of his dual part, he did give lovers a trace of what to expect when “Last Man Standing” returns for its ninth and ultimate season.

“By the time this airs… it will have been literally as the vaccine requires hold.
