When Blanner and her family members moved into their home, this now-sunny place was darkish, un-insulated, and sparsely furnished with a futon, which sat on a linoleum flooring. The Blanners blew in insulation, extended the wooden ground from the adjoining room, extra wainscoting, and lighting to completely transform it into an casual dining home and gathering spot.

At 1st glance, a living space with a white rug and white sofas in a household with 3 active little ones doesn’t seem sensible, but Julie Blanner designed it so. “I try out to simplify my existence in any way I can. We have an out of doors rug in the residing space that is tender enough to use indoors,” she claims.
“I’ve literally dropped crimson wine on it and cleaned it up with h2o. We vacuum it often. If it desires deep cleaning, we just just take it outdoors and hose it off, let it dry and deliver it again in. The sofas are slipcovered. In a further bid to increase performance, the Blanners converted an upstairs bedroom into a laundry space. “ I like owning laundry upstairs. It seems like it improves hard work to get all the garments and sheets downstairs, wash them, dry them, fold them and then acquire them all back again up. It seemed like so substantially extra of a chore than it is now.”
