One person is dead, another was hospitalized and two firefighters sustained injuries during a house fire Friday morning on the Boise Bench.
At about 4 a.m., the Boise Fire Department responded to a house fire on the 2800 block of W. Lemhi Street. There was heavy fire coming from inside the house when firefighters arrived.
One victim was able to escape on their own, and another victim was rescued by firefighters. Both were rushed to the hospital, but the victim that was rescued from the house died later that day.
It took crews about 40 minutes to control the fire which developed through the main floor and into hard to reach areas in the roof.
There was also a lot of debris inside the home, as well as multiple oxygen tanks that caused explosions, according to BFD. The home did have smoke detectors.
Two firefighters received minor injuries. A dog and a cat also died in the fire.
BFD and the Boise Police Department are still investigating the cause of the fire. The identity of the victim will eventually be released by the Ada County Coroner.
