Denver Botanic Gardens’ corpse flower, Lil Lil Stinker, is blooming for the next 24-36 hours

This weekend at Denver Botanic Gardens, you can see — and odor — something fascinatingly rare: the blooming of a corpse flower named Lil Stinker.

The Amorphophallus titanum, regarded colloquially as a corpse flower, is a gigantic tropical plant that, when briefly in bloom, emits an incredible odor that usually draws lengthy traces from curious plant fans.

“This odor is a mechanism for the plant to attract in pollinators, like carrion beetles and flies, from as significantly as a mile absent,” Denver Botanic Gardens explained on its website, noting that a corpse flower could bloom as frequently as each individual 2-3 several years. The gardens are property to two these kinds of bouquets: Stinker and its mini edition Lil Stinker, at the moment observed in the Tropical Conservatory by the weekend.

If you want to test it out, progress, time-entry tickets are necessary. There will be no extended hrs, but the Denver Botanic Gardens are open 9 a.m.-8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The past probable admission time every day is 7 p.m.
