Care Home Transformed Into Buckingham Palace for Queen’s Jubilee


Residents of a care home in Windsor woke up to locate the facility had been transformed into a little Buckingham Palace in celebration of Queen Elizabeth’s Platinum Jubilee.

Crimson drapes, royal portraits, a fire, and lavish decorations adorned the Mountbatten Grange treatment household, with a large throne getting centre phase. Afternoon tea, sandwiches, cakes and scones were also well prepared.

People had been advised that morning to “dress to impress”, according to a press launch, and have been greeted by crew customers dressed as the Queen’s Guard and a actual-life corgi, named Marcel Le Corgi.

Kathleen Lewis, 98, reported: “We realized practically nothing about what was heading on – it was all finished so secretly. I believed it was fantastic. It was very a surprise!”

EMILY GARDINER: Right now we have celebrated the Queen’s Jubilee by reworking our cafe place into Buckingham Palace for the people to enjoy and have a wonderful afternoon tea.

JAMES MUNDY: Every person dressed up. Very major shock.

KATHLEEN LEWIS: Well, I considered it was fantastic and pretty a shock.

You seem truly pretty.

KATHLEEN LEWIS: And we realized nothing at all about what was likely on. It was all carried out so secretly.

DEBBIE WINWOOD: In Mountbatten Grange, we arrange our things to do based mostly on the residents’ likes and interests. It is advantageous for older folks because celebrating the Jubilee and its reminiscing and it is entertaining.

EMILY GARDINER: It was just terrific to see the residents’ reactions and see them all just come out and enjoy it. But I feel my favourite component would have been the pet dog and viewing everyone’s faces when they saw the corgi running all over.

JAMES MUNDY: It was wonderful enjoyment, extremely effectively organized. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

MARGARET PURVIS: Beautiful cakes. It was all carried out really, quite nicely. A terrific surprise.
