Across the Capital Region, homeowners and renters alike have been putting effort and money into their homes as the pandemic settled in for a 10-month-and-counting stay. If you stopped having friends over, here’s a chance to show those spaces off: the Fourth Annual Times Union Home Design Contest.
We’re looking for entries in five categories: kitchen, living room, bedroom, bathroom and outdoor space. The contest is open to professional designers and amateur decorators alike. Designers may submit one entry per room, so up to five entries as long as they are for different categories. Submit two high-resolution images of each room. The homes must be in the Capital Region, which for this contest include Albany, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Warren, Washington, Fulton or Columbia counties.
The deadline for entries is Feb. 8.
This year’s judges are Brendan Flanigan of Brendan Flanigan Interiors, Julie Maleski Putzel of JMP Interiors, and Carisha Swanson, market director for House Beautiful.
The panel will narrow down the entries to semi-finalists, which will then be posted to the Times Union Facebook page on Feb. 22. The winners from each category will be decided by how many “likes” and “loves” each entry receives. Facebook voting will end on Feb. 26. The panel will choose their favorite from among the semifinalists. The winner chosen by the judges will be the subject of a story in Spaces on March 14.
Send entries to Leigh Hornbeck at lhornbeck@timesunion.com.
