Austin Straubel International Airport undergoing ‘refresh and improvement’ project

ASHWAUBENON, Wis. (WFRV) – Austin Straubel Intercontinental Airport (GRB) in the Village of Ashwaubenon will be acquiring a makeover.

During a press conference today, Brown County Government Troy Streckenbach painted the ceremonial “first paint stroke” on the exterior of the airport that will be undergoing a refresh and advancement challenge.

“It’s time to brighten items up and give our airport a extra contemporary glimpse,” mentioned Streckenbach. “So, we wished to have a minor entertaining with it whilst sharing the information.”

The $8.2M challenge, funded through a combination of Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Airport Enhancement (AIP) grant money and Wisconsin Bureau of Aeronautics (WiBOA) State-help grants, is predicted to be done in four phases around the upcoming year. Immel Design of Inexperienced Bay is the general contractor.

The update and advancement task is set to rework and repaint the exterior cover with LED lights and added safety capabilities. Alongside the exterior canopy, the entrance and exit plazas, as properly as traveler walkways, will be up to date and painted.
